This week sees the launch of Loneliness Awareness, as the Government promotes ‘Let’s Talk Loneliness’ in a campaign aimed to reduce the stigma of loneliness and encourage more people to speak out.
“Stimulating open communication and connecting with people is so important”, says Greg Mulhearn, Managing Director at United Plant. “This is so relevant to the work environment, especially during the pandemic crisis we’ve all had to deal with. At United Plant, we are ensuring that the lines of communication remain open, with regular check-ins on our employees to ask about individual welfare and mental state.”
“In a service business, where people are your greatest asset, being caring and compassionate is crucial. It is great to see the Government implementing a strategy to help combat loneliness” concludes Greg.
Recent YouGov research showed that 25% of adults reported feeling lonely on weekends and surprisingly young people (18-24) are most likely to indicate they have felt lonely (75%).
