Today, we are celebrating International Women’s Day by recognising the women at United Plant, who all play a significant role as part of our national team.

From Field Service Engineer, Business Support, Supply Chain, Service Admin and Management – the women in our business undertake a broad variety of roles.

The world is changing. Peoples’ lives and aspirations are changing. Stereotypes are finally becoming outdated thinking, which no longer represent todays’ world or personal ambition. It is, however, acknowledged that the HME industry is male dominated and that the path for women to build a career for themselves in this industry, may be more demanding.

So, what do our United Plant women think?

Gina Roberts – HME Engineer “Over past years, I have seen the HME industry develop immensely in regard to inclusion of women in the workplace. This has directly led to many women deciding to build a career in engineering and construction. In my experience, the plant fitter role has been very rewarding, with plenty of support available, if required.”

Lyndsey Allison – Compliance Manager “Having resilience and diversity are important characteristics to building a career in this industry, along with patience and confidence. The ability to build strong allies across your network among all genders, is also important.”

Erin Brewster – Senior Service Controller “Having worked in the HME industry for the last 2.5 years, joining United Plant has been one of the best decisions I have made. The opportunities for me to excel within the business are known and I am treated equally – nothing is questioned based on my gender.”

As a leading national company, we are proud to celebrate women’s achievement and support the quest to raise awareness, against bias. A world which is free of bias and stereotypes, which encourages diversity and inclusion is a better world, that United Plant wholeheartedly support.

United Plant. United People.
